Here at The Detour Co we are enthusiastic about creating truly natural skincare with ingredients from the land, not the lab.

We lovingly prepare natural skincare by hand. Slight variances in scent and texture may occur from one batch to the next due to the handmade human process. 

Helping these products find their way into your beautiful homes carefully and efficiently is a top priority. Here are a few things to know about the process of co-creating with nature and what to expect from The Detour Co:

Natural Products are Different

Growing conditions

Seasonal variances can impact the earth grown botanical ingredients and essential oils we use. That means a toner made with chamomile hydrosol may have a sweeter aroma one year and a slightly earthier aroma the next. We love this about nature. We love her ability to adapt and grow in any environment. Quality is important to us and we promise to source materials of the highest quality year after year.

Seasonal impacts

We don't use unnatural stabilizers or emulsifiers in our products, making them a tiny bit more fragile than other stuff on the shelf. Textures may change when they come in contact with high heats or freezing temperatures. A toner that travels to you in winter, may freeze and burst if left out for too long. A body butter left in your car on a summer day, may melt. We do our best to package items in a way that keeps them as safe as possible. Please also keep environmental impacts in mind as you receive and store your skincare.

Proper storage/shipping

Room temp is best, always out of direct sunlight. Ordering temperature sensitive products for shipment may result in melting or freezing. We do our best to package with care and avoid shipping in extreme temperatures, but we do not take responsibility for changes that may (albeit rarely) occur during shipment. If a package is received, and it appears damage was due to irresponsible handling of the products please contact us immediately.

LOCAL PICKUP

Gravenhurst pickups are typically available on Wednesday's or Friday's, 4pm-7pm.
Bracebridge pickups are typically available on Thursday's, 11am - 2pm.
I love and appreciate you, but please do not come to collect a pickup before receiving a message that says your order is ready. After placing your order, an order confirmation will be sent to you right away. There will be a second communication regarding pickup. Orders are rarely available within 24 hours. Next day pickups are only available IF you have spoken with our team to confirm your order status specifically. Please give us 2-4 business days to prepare your order and send you the message to notify you when your order is ready. Only come to collect an order if the "Your Order is Ready" email has been sent. Thank you!

SHIPMENTS

Shipments are typically sent out on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We use UPS and Canpar couriers and aim for 2 business day delivery to Ontario customers and 5 business day delivery outside of Ontario. 

We are excited to keep making and sending natural skincare across Canada. If our process or policies can be improved in any way, I would love to hear from you. This brand has grown from conversations with people just like you so please reach out if we can serve you better.
